Abstract:Two different water atomization methods were used to prepare Fe3Al alloy powder.The improved water atomized powder and conventional water atomized powder were compared in terms of oxygen content, morphology, particle size distribution, microstructure and phase structure. Auger electron spectroscopy was also conducted to analyze the surface elemental distribution of the improved water atomized Fe3Al powder.The results show that the improved water atomized Fe3Al powder has lower oxygen content,more severe powder agglomera‐ tion,and more fine grains. However ,the two types of Fe3Al powder have similar phase structures with no signifi‐ cant compositional segregation.Selective oxidation occurred on the Fe3Al powder surface, forming a dense Al2O3 oxide film.
