Research on Li 3N artificial solid-state interphase for new energy vehicle lithium-ion battery

Abstract：Possessing a super high theoretical capacity (3 860 mAh/g) and an ultra-low reduction potential (-3. 04 V), metal lithium is promising anode for present secondary batteries, leading to much higher energy densi‐ ty, achieving the aim of over 400 Wh/kg and prolonging the endurance for new energy vehicle. However, the continuous reaction between the lithium anode and electrolyte consumes the electrolyte and also increases the impedance of the battery. In this study, the artificial solid-state interphase to inhibit the reaction between lithium metal and electrolyte were integrated. The high ion conductivity of lithium nitride can also achieve the fast transfer of lithium ions on the surface of lithium metal, thus lowing the impedance of the battery. Due to the buffer layer of the lithium nitride solid-state interphase, the assembled lithium/lithium symmetric battery is able to cycle for 1 000 h at a current density of 0.4 mA/cm2， and with a critical current density of 1. 8 mA/cm2. After 300 cycles at 1 C, the capacity retention rate of the lithium cobalt/lithium metal pouch half battery is as high as 93. 1%.
