Research status of SiCp/Al composites prepared by powder metallurgy

Abstract:The preparation process of SiCp/Al composite by powder metallurgy was described in detail, including powder mixing process (such as ball-to-powder?ratio, milling time, milling?speed), cold compaction(such as compaction pressure, pressure-holding?time, standing time, etc.), degassing (such as degassing method), heat densification(such as vacuum hot-pressing, pressureless sintering and hot extrusion, powder hot extrusion), etc. The effects of reinforcement (SiCp) size and interface on the properties of SiCp/Al composites and the strengthening mechanism of the composites were briefly introduced. Finally the development direction of SiCp/Al composites was forecasted.
