Abstract:The SiC/6061Al composites containing 35% (volume fraction) SiC were produced by powder metallurgy method. Effects of the microstructure and the interface between the matrix and the reinforcement on the mechanical properties of the composites were studied. Results show that the SiC particles are distributed uniformly in the matrix, and the interface bonding between the matrix and the reinforcement is good. The composite has high density and high tensile strength.
