Abstract:Joining of two dissimilar aerospace alloy 2A12 aluminum alloy powder and Ti-6Al-4V was carried out
using Hot Isostatic Pressing(HIP)technology. The effect of Cu as interlayer on the property of diffusion bonding
joint was stuied. The results showed that, three different intermetallic compounds were formed in the diffusion
bonding joint when 2A12 aluminum alloy powder and Ti-6Al-4V were directly diffusion bonding using HIP and
the existed of intermetallic compounds had adverse effect on the property of diffusion bonding joint; The diffusion
phenomenon mainly occurred in the side of Cu/Al and the liquid phase prepared by eutectic reaction of Cu/Al penetrated
the interface among the aluminum alloy powders. The micro-hardness decreased and the shear strength increased
when the Cu as interlayer compared with directly diffusion bonding using HIP. The shear strength increased
by 64%, reached 23 MPa.
