Abstract:The cuprous oxide crystallites were synthesized by chemical precipitation method from copper sulfate, hydrazine hydrate, sodium hydroxide, with polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the template polymer. Single factor experiments were used to analyse the effects of cuprous oxide particle size and morphology, including the NaOH concentration, reaction temperature, PVP dosage. SEM and XRD were used to characterize the phase, morphology and particle size of the products. The results show that the prepared cuprous oxide crystallites are minimal and uniform spheres with an average size of 30 nm. The optimum preparation conditions are as follows:the concentration of NaOH is 2 mol/L, the reaction temperature is 70 ℃ and the dosage of PVP is 1.6 g/L.
