Abstract:Metals occupy an important position in the field of materials which are regraded as the cornerstone of
the development of science and technology. One specific technology—Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP), is inevitably
related to the production of advanced metal materials. In HIPing process, no liquid phase appears, and metallurgi‐
cal bonding is achieved due to atomic diffusing in solid state. According to the processing characteristics, HIP can
be applied in three scenarios: densification treatment , diffusion bonding and powder metallurgy, in which the HIP
near net shape (HIP-NNS) technology is deemed as the high-end form. This paper summarizes the research prog‐
ress of HIP technology, and describes the application fields of densification treatment, the state-of-the-art of diffu‐
sion bonding and the application trends of powder metallurgy products, thereby providing reference for engineering
technicians who seek high-end metallic material technology.
