Abstract:In industrial production, adding iron powder can greatly improve the density of vanadium-nitrogen
(VN) alloy products. In order to meet the needs of enterprises to improve production process and product quality,
taking the VN alloy products produced by industrial V2O5 powder, graphite powder and iron powder raw materials
in pusher kiln as the object, the existing forms of iron in VN alloy and its influence on its sintering process were
studied, and the action mechanism of Fe was discussed. The results show that iron in VN alloy exists in the form of
Fe phase, and irregular inclusions are distributed between VN matrix phases. In the sintering process, the Fe phase
changes into liquid phase at about 1 200 ℃ and becomes a liquid diffusion channel of carbon. The carbothermal re‐
duction nitridation reaction changes from solid-solid reaction to solid-liquid reaction, resulting in rapid densifica‐
tion of alloy sintering; Adding iron powder can improve the density and nitrogen content of VN alloy products, and
reduce its carbon content and oxygen content.
