Abstract:304 austenitic P/M stainless steel was prepared by vacuum sintering. The effects of different sintering
temperatures on the microstructure, density, tensile strength and corrosion resistance of P/M 304 stainless steel
were studied. The results show that with the increase of sintering temperature from 1 210 ℃ to 1 300 ℃, the
number of pores and the size of pores in the sintered body of 304 stainless steel decrease significantly. When the
sintering temperature increases to 1 360 ℃, the grains in the sintered body gradually grow and coarsen, and the
size of pores increases. With the increase of sintering temperature, the density, hardness, tensile strength and cor‐
rosion resistance of the sintered body first increased and then decreased. The optimum sintering temperature is
1 300 ℃. At this time, the sintered sample has the maximum density, hardness and tensile strength, which are
7.23 g/cm3, HRB68.88 and 344.19 MPa respectively. The self-corrosion current of the sample is the smallest and
has the best corrosion resistance.
