Abstract:Capacitor-grade tantalum wires were made by powder metallurgy methods. In the process of rolling, vac‐
uum sintering and pulling, burr, pits, grooves and other processing defects are easy to form on its surface. If the pro‐
cessing defects were not found and repaired in the subsequent processing process, they could be contaminated by
media containing a certain amount of aluminum, calcium, sodium, magnesium and other low melting point metals,
such as pulling lubricating oil, cleaning liquid and surface treatment melting salt. And chemical reaction with oxy‐
gen, carbon, nitrogen, etc. would take out at the high temperature heat treatment. An abnormal oxide rust spots
would occur on the surface of tantalum wire, and affect the quality of tantalum wire products. Therefore, it is very
important to prevent the production of surface rust point through formation mechanism analysis and process control.
