Abstract In order to solve the problem of "pest" oxidation of tantalum tungsten alloy(Ta-10W) at 500 ℃, a more
uniform, dense and smooth coating was prepared on the surface of Ta-10W alloy by fused slurry method through
doping Mo element in Si-Ti-HF slurry, which could adjust the thermal expansion coefficient of the coating in this
paper. The effect of different content Mo element on the high temperature oxidation resistance of the coating was
studied. The more Mo element is doped, the closer the thermal expansion coefficient of the coating is with the substrate,
the less microcracks and the better oxidation resistance is with the coating. At the same time, the higher the
content of MoSi2 formed in the coating, the more MoO3 oxidized into gas, which is not conducive to the high temperature
oxidation resistance of the coating. When 2% Mo is doped, the high temperature oxidation resistance of
the coating is the best, and the oxidation resistance and failure mechanism of the coating are analyzed.
