Study on the explosion characteristics of aluminium powder and aluminium magnesium mixed powder |

Abstract In order to investigate the change rule of explosive characteristic parameters of aluminum powder and
aluminum magnesium mixture powder, the explosive pressure, explosive pressure rising rate and explosive index
of aluminum powder with different particle sizes were studied by using the 20L spherical dust explosion test sys‐
tem, the effect of adding magnesium powder on the explosive characteristics of aluminum powder was also dis‐
cussed. The results show that the explosive pressure, explosive pressure rising rate and explosive index of alumi‐
num powder increase firstly and then decrease with the increase of aluminum powder concentration. At the same
concentration, the explosion pressure, explosion pressure rising rate and explosion index of aluminum powder with
small particle size are obviously larger than those of aluminum powder with large particle size, indicating that the
explosive power of aluminum powder with small particle size is greater. In addition, compared with the aluminum
powder with the same particle size, the explosion pressure, explosion pressure rising rate and explosion index of
the Mg-Al mixture powder are larger, which indicates that the addition of magnesium powder increases the fire
explosion risk of aluminum powder.
