Abstract Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have excellent mechanical, physical and chemical properties，which are the ideal reinforced composite materials. The application for preparation of CNTs reinforced metal matrix composite by powder metallurgy method at home and abroad in recent years was reviewed. The progress of CNTs/metal matrix composite powder and block materials was described in detail. Finally, the application foreground was prospected.
