Abstract The microstructure and mechanical properties of spray formed 6061 aluminum alloy were studied, and were also compared with casting 6061 aluminum alloy. The results show that the microstructure of spray formed 6061 aluminum alloy is more uniform. However, there are residual pores in the samples, leading to worse tensile properties for the spray formed 6061 aluminum alloy.
