Preparation of porous aluminum bulk material by SPS with sublimate material as pore-forming agent |

Abstract To solve the pollution problem of porous metal material with high porosity during the preparation process, the sublimate naphthalene particles were used as pore-forming agent, the porous aluminum bulk materials were prepared using spark plasma sintering (SPS). The results show that, porous aluminum bulk materials with high porosity are achieved; as well the cleanliness is improved by using sublimate pore-forming agent. When sintered at 350 ℃, the porous aluminum bulk materials have good structure and size controllability, good open hole effect, high porosity (63.33%), and the powder particles have no obvious growth. Sublimation pore-forming agent can adjust the pore volume effectively, realize a reasonable mix of large holes and small holes in porous aluminum materials, further improve the connectivity between the pores. Combined with SPS technology, the method has a technical advantage for the preparation of porous metal material which has higher requires for open holes and particle connectivity.
