Abstract Due to their superior physical or chemical properties, nanomaterials have developed rapidly in recent years and have played a huge role in various industries. Copper oxide is the most common oxide. Copper oxide nanomaterials with various structural morphologies, such as copper oxide nanowires, nanosheets, nanorods, nanotubes, nanoflowers, etc.,have been prepared by various methods. Nanomaterials greatly improve the analytical performance of electrochemical sensors and make a significant contribution to the ultrasensitive detection of a wide range of materials. In this paper, the application of copper oxide nanomaterials in electrochemical sensors has been summarized in recent years, and the future development trend of this material in sensors is prospected.
