Abstract Different content of CeO2 powder was added to Fe-based prealloy powder, and diamond tool matrix was
prepared by hot pressing sintering method. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the matrix of sintered
segment were characterized and tested. The results show that under the same process, the matrix hardness, bending
strength and correlation density is very high, when the mass fraction of CeO2 is 0.5%, CuNi2Sn phase appears in
the matrix of sintered segment, the mechanics comprehensive performance of the matrix is best, with the highest
relative density of 0.958 4 and hardness of 320.75HV0.3, which is 16.83% higher than that without CeO2. At this
time, the bending strength also reaches the highest value of 1 515 MPa, the dimples of matrix fracture become
deeper, the grain boundary is obvious, the fracture mode is mainly intergranular fracture, CeO2 particles are distributed
in the grain and the grain boundary, and the voids inside the matrix spheroidize and round obviously, which
plays a dispersion strengthening role in the matrix alloy.
