Abstract ADC12 Aluminum alloy has good plasticity and high corrosion resistance, is widely used in aviation,
automobile and other industries. Because the aluminum alloy is soft and easy to adhere to the rake face of tool, the
high speed milling test of ADC12 aluminum alloy was carried out in this paper. The relationship between cutting
speed, cutting force and the amount of bonding on the rake face of tool was studied, and the mechanism of tool adhesive
wear was analyzed. The results show that with the increase of milling speed, the cutting force and the bond
amount both increase first and then decrease, the cutting force reaches the maximum at 600 m/min, and the bond
amount of the rake face also reaches the maximum. The cutting force has a significant effect on the bond amount of
the rake face. Rake face of the main wear form is adhesive wear, after cutting tool surface oxidation film is damaged,
rake face of rapid formation of adhesive layer, adhesive layer under the impact of the "loading and unloading"
force, crack first, then come off to form a new bond layer, bonding layer peel away on the surface of the cutting
tool material, result in adhesion wear of cutting tool.
