Abstract:Chemical precipitation and thermal decomposition was studied to prepare cobaltosic oxide, which was used to produce qualified lithium ion battery. The effects of the process of preparation of cobalt hydroxide precursor and calcination on products were mainly studied. Stable cobaltosic oxide was gained by experiments, which have the following characteristics: high tap density(≥2.2 g/cm3), narrow distribution of laser particle(5-10 μm),high purity(Cobalt content: 72.6%-73.6%(mass fraction), Cobalt oxide≤5%(mass fraction)), morphology of spherical. The results show that the index of cobaltosic oxide was mainly decided from cobaltous hydroxide synthesized by chemical precipitation method. Additionally, the calcination processes also generate an effect on the index. The stable production gained by optimized the process can meet the need of the lithium-ion battery production.
