Abstract:The amorphous metal fibers show high corrosion resistance with a lower passivation current density and a wide passive region in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 and 0.1 mol/L HCl solutions. There are passivation current density of 3. 4×10-6 A·cm-2 and a passive region of 1 336 mV in 0.5 mol/L H2SO4 solution. There are also passivation current density of 1.3×10-6 A·cm-2 and a passive region of 1 407 mV solution in 0.1 mol/L HCl solution. The corrosion behaviour of amorphous metal fibers is compared with stainless steel fibers. Amorphous metal fibers exhibit more superior corrosion resistance than that of stainless steel fibers. The superior corrosion resistance of amorphous metal fiber is attributed to the formation of a dense and stable protective passive film.
