The damping performance measurement of cellular aluminium foam on low frequency vibration

Abstract:Using electromagnetic vibration test platform with multi- channel dynamic signal acquisition and analysis system, low frequency vibration dynamic damping property of cellular aluminium foam was investigated systematically. The results show that cellular aluminium foam displays excellent vibration damping effect and its performance is closely depended on the frequency under the medium and high frequency loads. Moreover, the geometrical parameters of the samples have important influence on the vibration reduction range, and the smaller the pore- size is, the better the damping effect is under the same conditions. The results of the research can provide the experimental basis for the engineering application of cellular aluminium foam.
