Abstract:To investigate the effects of Pr, Nd elements absent in A side of AB5-type alloy, two commercial AB5-type hydrogen storage alloys were chosen as the object. The mentioned alloys were prepared by induction melting following with annealed. Phase composition and structure were characterized by XRD, the hydrogen storage performance were tested and analyzed by two-electrode cell simulation test system. The results showed that after Pr, Nd elements completely substituted by La element, the discharge capacity was slightly raised, high-rate discharge capacity of the alloy were unchanged. Meanwhile, without Pr, Nd element, the cost of hydrogen storage alloys was reduced by nearly 15%. The hydrogen absorption/desorption plateau and cycle stability were both slightly decreased.
