Abstract:Abstract: A technique is developed for demagnetizing correction of magnetization curve of a ferromagnetic cylinder directly measured with solenoid-fluxmeter method to the true magnetization curve of the material. Compared with ordinary correction using artificially chosen values of demagnetizing factor, accurately calculated fluxmetric demagnetizing factor with values depending on the differential susceptibility of the measured curve is used, so that the corrected result is unique. The application of demagnetizing factor defined for paramagnets to ferromagnets must involve error, but this error decreases with increasing the length-to-diameter ratio of the cylinder, so that it can be very small when this ratio is large enough. For measuring semi-soft or semi-hard magnetic materials, this technique not only leads to the proposition of a method other than the commonly recommended permeameter method, but also may provide standard samples to be used for justification of the latter method.
