Abstract:A 120-brand grain-oriented silicon steel was scribed using laser beam. The parameters such as working current, frequency and scribing rate and the corresponding iron loss were examined to reveal the effect on domain refinement. Then the surface morphologies of scribed samples by different parameters and the effect of domain refinement were analyzed. The results show that the reduction in iron loss is most significant under the parameters of 12 A working current, 3 500 Hz in frequency and 800 mm/s of scribing rate. The surface morphologies of scribed samples under different parameters exhibit great diversity, and the effect of domain refinement is best when the scribing pots build a continuous band. After laser scribing, the width of domain obviously reduced, but the refinement is un-uniform.
