Abstract The preparation methods of Mg-based hydrogen storage alloy with nanostructure, the effects of catalysts and rare earth elements on the hydrogen absorption and desorption kinetics of Mg-based hydrogen storage alloys were commented. The research situation on hydriding and dehydriding kinetics of Mg-based hydrogen storage alloys was also summarized, and pointed out the some suggestion on future study of the Mg-based hydrogen storage material.
