Effect of Grain Size on the Structure Stability and Phase Transition Characteristics of Ultra-Low-Expansion Alloy |

Abstract Effect of grain size on the expansion coefficient, structure stability and phase transition characteristics of ultra-low-expansion alloy was investigated systematically. The result shows that the average grain size of Ni32Co4Nb ultra-low-expansion alloy affects the martensite phase transformation, the martensite phase transformation is more susceptible to occur in coarse grain. However, the average expansion coefficient is insensitivity to the average grain size. In order to insure the quality and phase transition characteristics of ultra-low-expansion alloy, the average grain size should be controlled less than 150 μm.
