Abstract:α-Fe2O3 is the most stable compound in iron oxide with good corrosion resistance, light resistance, magnetic, catalytic, and so on. FeCl3·6H2O was used as the main raw material, and ellipsoidal α-Fe2O3 was prepared by hydrolysis precipitation method under certain experimental conditions. According to the basic principle of this method, the effect of solution pH value, the concentration of FeCl3 solution and calcination temperature on the morphology and particle size of α-Fe2O3 was studied. The microstructure and phase structure of Fe2O3 nanoparticles were characterized by using SEM and XRD. The results show that the optimum experimental conditions for the preparation of Fe2O3 nanoparticles are as follows: that solution pH value is 2.0, the concentration of FeCl3 solution is 0.05 mol/L, and the calcination temperature of the products precursor is 400 ℃. The purity of the prepared Fe2O3 nanoparticles is high and the average particle size is 30-50 nm.
