Abstract:Five kinds of 316L stainless steel fiber felts with different pore size were prepared by design, fabrication,
sintering and compression. The filtration efficiency was tested respectively according to the standard GB/
T34643 and GB/T18853. The effects of pore size, flow, dust and test fluid on efficiency had been studied. The results
show that resistance and filtration efficiency decrease with the increase of pore size. The filtration efficiency
reduced when the flow was increased without dust for the same sample, while the filtration efficiency almost unchanged
at the same dust feeding per unit time. The filtration efficiency of dusting is 2 to 3 times than that of nondusting
for the same particle size when the flow is constant. The filtration efficiency varies greatly in different fluid
medias for the same sample, which in air is much higher than in liquid for the same particle size. The filtration efficiency
is affected complicatedly by test parameters. It may be determined by the special pore structure of the fiber
felts. So it doesn't make sense to talk about filtration efficiency in isolation.
