Abstract Methylene blue has the characteristics of bright color, high fixing rate and good color fastness, and it has become the fastest growing dye. However, a large amount of waste water is generated during use, which is difficult to biodegrade. Aminated nano-titanium dioxide was prepared by using tetraethyl titanate and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane as raw materials, and then the prepared titanium dioxide was treated with 2% (mass percent) silver nitrate solution to prepare silver-coated nano-titanium dioxide A, B and C. The obtained titanium dioxide was characterized by infrared spectroscopy, and the photocatalytic degradation properties were examined by methylene blue solution. The results show that the silver-coated nano-titanium dioxide B has the best degradation effect on methylene blue, the degradation rate is above 95%, which can fully meet the requirments of industrialized continuous treatment of wastewater.
