Abstract The porous stainless steel materials for construction were prepared by powder metallurgy process. The
mechanical strength and corrosion resistance with different porosity were tested. The results show that when the
amount of pore-forming agent increases, more pores are formed and the porosity increases, resulting in more uniform
pores. Each sample contains austenite A phase and partial nitride, precipitates a certain amount of CrN and
Cr2N.When the content of pore-forming agent increases, the tensile strength and yield strength of the sample decreases
slowly, and there are significant differences in mechanical properties between the porous block and the
block with dense structure. When the addition of pore-forming agent increases, the self-corrosion potential of the
sample decreases gradually, from -0.761 V to -0.988 V. The corrosion rate increases with corrosion current density
increasing from 0.002 mA/cm2 to 0.496 mA/cm2.
