Abstract The 30TiC-0.5%C-Fe steel-bonded carbide was prepared by mixed powders and vacuum sintering. The
effects of sintering temperature on the morphology, microstructure and mechanical properties of sintered samples
were investigated. The results show that the microstructure of the steel-bonded carbides is improved with the increase
of sintering temperature. The values of the hardness and impact toughness of the steel-bonded carbides increase
with the increase of the sintering temperature. When sintering at 1 400 ℃ , the hardness and the impact
toughness are 64HRC and 25 J/cm2 respectively.When the sintering temperature reaches 1 450 ℃, the surface of
the sample melts and the expected shape can not be obtained.
