Abstract The effects of laser power and scanning speed on the forming defects were studied using orthogonal
test. Besides TA15 titanium alloy was prepared by using the optimal parameters. The effects of heat treatment temperature
on microstructure and mechanical properties were further studied as well. The results show that the best
forming effect can be reached by combining the laser power at 275~280 W and the scanning speed at 1 100~1
250 mm/s. Moreover, when annealed below 860 ℃, by increasing the annealing temperature, the strength of the alloy
decreases, while the plasticity increases. The combination of both high strength and plasticity that meet the requirements
of forgings, can be obtained by annealing at 840 ℃±20 ℃ , then holding for 2 h after reaching that temperature,
and air cooling eventually.
