Effect of rare earth La addition on optimizing preparation of tiny Fe-Cu prealloyed

Abstract Fe-Cu prealloyed powder was prepared by mechanochemical method with lanthanum oxide as adjuvant.
The effects of rare earth La on the reduction temperature, the micro morphology and particle size of the reduced
powder were studied. The particle size distribution, micro morphology, element distribution and phase composition
of Fe-Cu prealloy powder were characterized by laser particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscope (SEM),
energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that the average particle size
of Fe-Cu pre alloyed powder prepared by mechanical chemical method with lanthanum oxide as adjuvant at 700 ℃
and holding for 40 min is 0.4 μm, it is a uniform solid solution, and adding a certain amount of La can not only effectively
reduce the reduction temperature required for the preparation of Fe-Cu prealloyed powder, but also inhibit
the growth of powder particles, reduce powder size.
