Abstract In the metal 3D printing industry, powder is used as a direct raw material, and its preparation methods
are diverse. At present, the application of gas atomization pulverizing technology is the most widely used. This article
mainly summarizes the main performance parameters of metal powder and the basic principle of preparing metal
powder by gas atomization. According to the different atomization nozzles and heating elements, a variety of gas
atomization technologies are derived. For these technologies, a simple explanation, analysis and comparison are
carried out. Among them, the close-coupled gas atomization technology is widely used, and the non-crucible electrode
induction melting gas atomization is suitable for the preparation of active metal powder. Finally, the technology
of preparing 3D printing metal powder by gas atomization method is summarized.
