Abstract In this paper, with graphene oxide and 2024Al powder as raw materials, graphene oxide (GO)/2024Al
composites with different content of GO and sintering temperatures were prepared by electrostatic self-assembly+
spark plasma sintering (SPS) process, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of the composites were
characterized and tested. The results show that graphene oxide is uniformly distributed in the composite powder
and coated on the surface of Al particles. The second phase in the composite is mainly the Al2Cu phase, and the
second phase and graphene oxide are distributed in a network along the grain boundaries. The compressive
strength of composites with 0.5%, 1%, and 2% graphene oxide (GO) sintered at 550 ℃ increases and then de‐
creases. The compressive strength increases to 428.02 MPa and 540 MPa, respectively, an increase of 12.5% and
42% compared with the matrix.
