Study on Carbon Fiber Reinforced Copper Matrix Composite Material Made by Cold Pressing and Sintering Method |

Abstract Using carbon fiber and copper powder as raw material, carbon fiber-reinforced copper matrix composite materials were fabricated by cold pressing and sintering method. Influence of compaction pressure, sintering temperature and sintering time on the properties of composite material was studied. The results indicate that the green density and?green compressive strength of the composite increase rapidly at first and then increase slowly with the increase of?compaction pressure, the?reasonable pressing pressure?is?238-286 MPa. The sintered density and strength of the composite grow rapidly?with the increasing sintering temperature, while the sintered density is?unchanged,?and the strength begins to decline when the sintering temperature is more than 800 ℃. The wear resistance of the composite grows with the increasing sintering temperature, while it remains unchanged when the sintering temperature?is higher than 750 ℃. The sintered density,?strength and wear resistance of the composite?grow with the?increasing sintering time. These properties increase more and more slowly with the increasing sintering time,?and remain unchanged when sintering time is more than 40 minutes.
