Abstract The application of rare earth elements in titanium alloys was reviewed in this paper. The effects of Nd,
Y, Gd, Er and La on microstructure, mechanical properties, creep property, oxidation resistance and thermal stability
of titanium alloys were summarized. The existence form of rare earth elements, adding amount and mode of rare
earth elements in titanium alloy was analyzed. Improvement measures were put forward to optimize the properties
of titanium alloy doped with rare earth elements. Based on the research status of titanium alloys containing rare
earth elements, this paper points out the limiting factors for their industrial application, analyzes their application
prospect and future development direction, and puts forward some suggestions in order to provide reference for the
study of titanium alloys.
