Abstract The Mo powders with various morphology were prepared with different feed and hydrogen reduction
conditions and were numerically characterized combined with scanning electronic microscopy images. The effect
of material microstructure, reduction temperature, hydrogen dewpoint and flowrate on powder morphology were
systematically analyzed. The function of MoO2 morphology and 2nd stage reduction conditions on Mo powder
were elucidated according to reaction mechanism. The morphology numerical range of powders with good shape
and dispersion performance was also given.
