Abstract Copper-based powder metallurgy friction materials containing 0%, 0.1%, 0.2% and 0.3% La2O3 were
prepared by powder metallurgy technology and their mechanical properties were measured. The friction perfor‐
mance was tested using MM-1000III friction and wear testing machine. The microstructure of friction surface and
impact section was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results showed that with the increase of
La
2O3 content, the impact strength and tensile strength of the material decreased first and then increased, while
the Brinell Hardness and resistivity increased. The friction coefficient increased with the increased of La2O3 con‐
tent under the same pressure and inertia configuration. The impact sections of all samples showed the characteris‐
tics of ductile fracture.
