Abstract:Spherical metallic powder plays a key role as crucial industrial raw materials. which has been univer‐
sally applied into multiple manufacturing fields, such as additive manufacturing, thermal isostatic pressure, me‐
tallic injection molding, spraying, etc. Current preparation processes for metallic powders primarily consist of
normal atomization, electrode induced gas atomization, plasma rotating electrode process and plasma atomiza‐
tion. The preparation processes for metallic powders include a series of complicated physical-chemical processes.
To gain a profound insight into the complex preparation processes and further optimize the processing pa‐
rameters as well as apparatus, the research focused on the simulation of preparation processes for powders is
systematically reviewed in the current work. And the future development of atomization process simulation for
metallic powders is also prospected to provide a convincing theoretical evidence for production practice.
