Effect of hot extrusion on microstructure and properties of SiCp/6061Al composites

Abstract:The SiCp/6061Al composites were prepared by powder metallurgy method, and then were hot extruded. Microstructure of the composites was observed by optical microscope and scanning electronic microscope. The physical and mechanical properties were also examined. The results show that the densities and mechanical properties are increased; the distribution of SiC particles is more uniform after hot extrusion, which is consistent?with the direction of extrusion force.
