Abstract:Nickel powders were produced by close-coupled gas atomization. The effects of atomization pressure, nozzle inner diameter and melting temperature on the particle size were studied. The results show that the particle size reduces with the increasing of atomization pressure or melting temperature, or the decreasing of nozzle inner diameter. The optimum parameters for the preparation of fine nickel powders are as follows: atomization pressure of 5 MPa, nozzle inner diameter of 4.5 mm and melting temperature of 1 600 ℃. The powders produced under this condition are mainly spherical.
