Characteristic of GH4169 alloy powder used in selective laser melting

Abstract:GH4169 alloy powders were prepared by vacuum melting-inert atomization method. The particle size distribution and particle shape characteristics were investigated. GH4169 alloy tensile and metallographic specimens were manufactured by selective laser melting technology. The microstructures and mechanical properties before and after annealing of the specimens were studied. The results show that particle size distribution of GH4169 alloy powder is normal distribution and particle size range is mainly between 25-40 μm. The particles are spherical and there are satellite ball in powders. The average yield strength,tensile strength,elongation and shrinkage before and after annealing of GH4169 alloy specimens are 637 MPa,981 MPa,27.5% and 50.0% respectively. After annealing,the yield strength and tensile strength of the specimen increase while impact energy,elongation and shrinkage reduce. The tensile fracture shows a ductile fracture characteristic.
