Preparation and properties of graphene-reinforced aluminum matrix composite wires

Abstract:Al4C3 generated in aluminum graphene composites will result in a great decrease in its electrical conductivity
compared with pure aluminum. In order to reduce the formation of Al4C3, Al-Gr (graphene) composites were
prepared by powder continuous extrusion method. The results show that the Al4C3 phase generated by Al and Gr on
the interface is less, and the tensile strength increases when the Al-Gr composites are prepared by continuous powder
extrusion method. The electrical conductivity of Al-0.5%Gr composite rod remains 62.28%IACS, which decreases
by 2.1% compared with pure aluminum matrix, while the tensile strength of Al-0.5%Gr composite rod increases
by 16.3%.
