Abstract:Low-cost medical porous Ti-5Mn alloys were prepared by powder metallurgy process using ammonium
bicarbonate(NH
4HCO3)particles with different addition contents (10%~40%) as space holder agent, and its micro‐
structure and mechanical properties were examined. The results show that the porous Ti-5Mn alloys prepared with
different ammonium bicarbonate addition contents are all composed of α-Ti phase and β-Ti phase, and its addition
has no effect on the phase composition of the alloy. When the addition contents of ammonium bicarbonate increas‐
es, the porosity of the prepared porous Ti-5Mn alloy increases, the density decreases correspondingly, the average
pore size of the macropore increases and gradually become three-dimensional interconnected, while its elastic mod‐
ulus and compressive strength decreases gradually. Low-cost medical porous Ti-5Mn alloy with appropriate pore
structure and mechanical properties prepared by adding different addition contents of ammonium bicarbonate parti‐
cles in this study can be used as a candidate materials for repairing cortical bone defects.
