Abstract Iron-based powder metallurgy parts are an important mass production method for new energy vehicle
transmission parts. The pressing process is an indispensable link in the billet making, and the finite element analy‐
sis method is used instead of the experiment, and it has gradually become an important tool for the manufacturabili‐
ty analysis of parts. Carry out molding and performance experiments for FC0205 brand iron-based powder, analyze
the four stages of press forming, use MARC software to establish the material model of iron-based powder, pro‐
pose a simulation scheme based on continuum medium, and investigate three kinds of process factors, the side wall
friction factor, pressing speed, feed direction, and height-to-diameter ratio and cone angle structure factors which
affect the density distribution of pressed products. It is concluded that a good structure is the premise to ensure the
quality of pressing, and a reasonable selection of process factors can improve the quality of pressing.
