Effect of sintering temperature on properties of porous silica ceramic for filtration |

Abstract Porous silica ceramic filter was prepared through pressing method with silica, waste glass and kaolin as raw materials. The reaction temperature?of pore former was confirmed. The effects of sintering temperature on water absorption, porosity, strength and microstructure of the porous ceramic were discussed. The results show that the pore former reacts rapidly during 300-450 ℃. ?The water absorption, apparent?porosity, liquid permeability of the ceramic decrease with the sintering temperature increasing, while the strength and relative density of the ceramic increase with the sintering temperature increasing. The optimum?sintering temperature?is?1 030 ℃.
