Abstract In recent years, bulk metal nanocrystalline materials were developing rapidly, and the current research
was focus on how to maintain high strength of materials while still maintaining good plasticity. It is found that introducing
dual-scale structure into the material can achieve the purpose of improving plasticity by sacrificing part
of strength. Therefore, the bulk dual-scale structure metal materials have important theoretical and engineering research
value. In this paper, the research progress in bulk metallic materials of dual-scale structure is overviewed,
with focus on the preparation methods, as well as mechanical properties, mechanisms of deformation and fracture
in bulk metallic materials of dual-scale structure.
