Abstract:WC/Ni-based composite coatings added with different contents of La2O3 were clad on A3 steel substrates by high power semiconductor laser with Auto-Sync powder feeding system. The effect of different contents of La2O3 on the microstructure and phase structure of WC/Ni-based composite coating was investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy-dispersive analysis of X-rays(EDAX),X-ray diffraction(XRD). The microhardness and wear resistance of the coatings were measured by microhardness tester and friction-wear tester. The results revealed that with the addition of La2O3,the microstructure of the coatings was refined, purified and become well-distributed, the microhardness and wear resistance of the coatings were improved.
