Abstract:The titanium alloy ingots of Ti6242S were prepared by using domestic 1350 KW electron beam cold hearth melting (EB) furnace and vacuum self-consumption melting furnace, and the microstructure and mechanical properties of the Ф200mm bars were compared and analyzed. The solidification structure of the ingot was uniform and fine after EB melting, and the property of EB melting resulted in the stability of the mechanical properties of the final bar. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the bar prepared by (EB+VAR) are superior to those of EB bar, which is directly related to the homogenization of components in VAR remelting. The process of preparing Ti6242S industrial titanium alloy ingot by EB furnace can satisfy the requirement of the key parts of aeroengine.
